Show currency codes
| Setting | Price appears as |
|---|---|
| Off | $24.00 |
| On | $24.00 USD |
When to turn it on
Turn it on if you sell internationally, particularly across countries that share a symbol. $24.00 means something different to a customer in the United States, Canada, Australia and Singapore, and the code removes the ambiguity before checkout rather than after.
Leave it off if you sell in one currency to one country. The code adds visual noise to every price on every page and answers a question nobody is asking.
Where it applies
The setting covers prices the theme renders — product pages, cards, the cart and the search drawer. It does not change checkout, which uses Shopify's own formatting, or the currency itself.
The underlying formats live in the admin under Settings → Store details → Store currency, where the exact pattern for both the price and the price with currency can be edited. This setting only chooses which of those two the theme uses.
| Setting | Type | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Show currency codes | Checkbox | Off | Cart and checkout prices always show currency codes. Example: $1.00 USD. |
