Blog and articles

Two templates working together: the blog lists your posts, and the article shows one of them.

Open either from the template dropdown in the theme editor.

Blog listing

Posts per page and Columns (desktop) set the grid.

Show estimated read time adds a reading time to each card, calculated from the post's length. It sets an expectation before the click, which tends to help longer posts rather than hurt them.

How each card looks — image shape, whether the date, author and tag appear — is set once under Article cards so it matches wherever posts are shown.

Set a default article image

Posts published without a featured image leave a blank card. The default image setting in Article cards covers them.

Article page

The post itself: title, featured image, published date, content and comments.

The content comes from the post editor in the admin, so formatting — headings, lists, images, links — is done there rather than in the theme.

Comments

Comments are enabled per blog in the admin, under Content → Blog posts → Manage blogs, where you also choose whether they need approval before appearing.

The theme paginates comments and shows both the success message after posting and any validation errors.

If you enable moderation, a customer's comment will not appear immediately after they post it. They still see a confirmation, but expect the occasional "my comment disappeared" question.

Multiple blogs

A store can have more than one blog — a news blog and a how-to blog, for example. Both use these templates.

If you want them to look different, create an alternate template (blog.guides) and assign it to that blog under Content → Blog posts → Manage blogs → Theme template.

Sections around the posts

Both templates carry ordinary sections. The article template ships with Related posts, which is restricted to article templates because it needs a current post to find relatives of.
