Appearance
Gift card page
The page a customer reaches from the link in their gift card email. It shows the card's value, its code, and a QR code for using it in person.
It is not a section-based template
Unlike every other page in the theme, this one is not built from sections and does not appear in the theme editor's template list. It is a standalone template, styled to match the rest of the store but not editable through the editor.
To change it, edit templates/gift_card.liquid under Online Store → Themes → ⋯ → Edit code.
What it shows
| Your logo or store name | So the recipient knows who it is from |
| The remaining balance | Not the original value — it updates as the card is spent |
| The gift card code | With a copy button |
| A QR code | For scanning at a physical till |
| Add to Apple Wallet | When Shopify provides a pass for the card |
| The page is styled for printing |
Selling gift cards
The page appears once a gift card exists; creating them is a store task.
Add a gift card product under Products → Add product, then set the product type to gift card. Shopify then issues a card, emails the recipient and links them here.
The product page handles gift card products specially, adding recipient fields so the buyer can send the card to someone else with a message and a delivery date.
Apple Wallet
The Add to Apple Wallet button only appears when Shopify has issued a pass for that card. It is not something the theme enables or a setting you can turn on — when Shopify provides it, the theme shows it.
Testing it
You do not need to sell one to see the page. Issue a gift card manually under Products → Gift cards → Issue gift card in the admin, then open the link from the resulting email.
