Product page

The product page is built from blocks. Everything between the title and the add-to-cart button is a block you can move, remove or leave out — so a page for a power tool with specifications and a care guide can look quite different from one for a pair of gloves, using the same template.

Open it from the template dropdown in the theme editor, then select Product page in the sidebar.

Arranging the blocks

Drag blocks into the order you want. A sensible starting order — and the one Greenix ships with — puts the essentials above the fold and the detail below:

  1. Vendor name
  2. Product heading
  3. Price block
  4. Short description
  5. Spec chips
  6. Product form (variants and add to cart)
  7. Pickup availability
  8. Social share
  9. Complementary products

The gallery is its own block and sits alongside the rest rather than above it.

Product subtitle

Reads from a product metafield. Enter the metafield in namespace.key form — for example custom.subtitle. Create the metafield first under Settings → Custom data → Products in the admin, then fill it in per product.

Products without a value simply do not show the subtitle, so there is no need to fill it in for every product.

Short description

Shows the opening of the product description, cut to the Word limit. It is for the summary above the fold — the full description belongs lower down, in a Product tabs section.

Spec chips

Short labelled tags for the facts a shopper scans for — "Rust-proof", "5 yr warranty", "40 cm bar". The block has no settings of its own; what it shows comes from the product, so it needs a little setup once.

In Settings → Custom data in the admin:

  1. Under Metaobjects, add a definition named Product chip. Give it one field, label, of type Single line text. Then add an entry for each chip you want available — you are building a shared list, so a chip written once can go on as many products as you like.
  2. Under Products, add a metafield with the namespace and key custom.product_chips, of type List of metaobjects → Product chip.

Then open any product and pick its chips from that list.

Products with no chips picked simply do not show the block, so there is no need to fill it in everywhere. The same chips appear on the product card, in the Quick view modal and in the Featured product section, so they stay consistent wherever the product is shown.

TIP

Keep chips to two or three words. They sit in a row and wrap once they run out of space, and long ones stop reading as tags.

Complementary products

Shows products you have linked to this one. The pairings come from Shopify's free Search & Discovery app, under Product recommendations — the theme displays them but does not create them. Without that app configured, the block shows nothing.

Pickup availability

Only appears for stores with local pickup enabled on at least one location, set under Settings → Shipping and delivery → Local pickup in the admin. It updates as the customer changes variant.

Section settings

Show sticky add to cart bar keeps a compact add-to-cart bar visible as the customer scrolls past the real one. On a long product page this is the difference between a customer scrolling back up and simply buying.

Enable accelerated checkout and Show Shop Pay installments add the express payment options below add to cart. Both are on by default and both are worth keeping — see the note in Cart settings.

Sections below the product

The product template also carries ordinary sections beneath the main one. Greenix ships with:

Remove any you do not need. Sections restricted to product templates are marked as such on their own pages.
