Appearance
Collection page
The page a customer lands on after choosing a category. It shows the collection's products in a grid, with filters and sorting.
Open it from the template dropdown in the theme editor. The template applies to every collection in your store — you do not build one per collection.
What sits at the top
A Page hero opens the page. It takes the collection's name and image automatically, so a new collection gets a correct banner with nothing to set. See that page for the full order it picks a background in.
Turn on Show collection description in the hero to display the description you wrote in the admin.
The grid
Products per page and Columns on desktop control the layout. Mobile uses two columns regardless.
Products per page also has a store-wide default under Pagination; the setting here overrides it for collections. The trade-off is the same — more products means a slower first load, and the answer for a large catalog is better filters rather than a longer page.
How each product looks is set once under Product cards, so every grid in the store matches.
Filters
Filters come from Shopify, not from the theme. Set them up with the free Search & Discovery app, under Filters — you choose which product attributes become filters, and the theme displays whatever you enable.
Availability, price and product options such as size and color are the usual starting set. Filters based on metafields and tags are also available.
Filters are what make a large collection usable
Without them, a customer facing 200 products has only scrolling and sorting. With them, they reach the ten products they care about in two clicks. If you have a deep catalog, this is the highest-value setup task on the page.
Sorting
The sort dropdown is populated by Shopify, and includes the collection's manual order alongside price, title, date and best selling.
Manual order is worth using. Set it under Products → Collections → Sort → Manually in the admin, then drag your strongest products to the front — the first row of a collection does most of the work.
Sections below the grid
The template carries ordinary sections beneath the grid. Greenix ships with Recently viewed and a Newsletter banner. Add or remove as you like.
Empty collections
A collection with no products shows a message rather than an empty grid. If you have collections that are seasonally empty, the Collections list page has a setting to hide them from the listing rather than showing customers a dead end.
